Guardrail for Speaking Truth in Love to Operate within Spiritual Life

Last week I faced a troubling situation. I sought counselling from an elder brother: 

"Hello Brother, I wanted to share something yesterday & then something urgent came up & I got distracted. In the context of this part (notes below) preached by Pastor Chad last weekend...

3. BUILD A CORE GROUP OF GODLY FRIENDS
▪People who will become your family with whom you can share and pray
▪ Allow them to speak truth in love into your life

...What I have been witnessing for quite some time is when Godly friends do this speaking truth in love, many often miss to share scripture verse or verses backing the truth or truths which they want me to see.

They simply bank on the relationship or their good works or I don't know on what, but they speak on the lines of 'See, I am telling you. Why is it hard for you to accept?'

And, some even get angry when I press for scripture verses.

I tell them, 'Hey, I am not rejecting what you are saying. But until I see a backing word of God, I am going to wait & pray & seek in Scripture in order to accept & act on your suggestion. Can you also please pray for me?'

But not many are able to accept this request & wait upon Holy Spirit in peace.

Some even suggest majority opinion as the basis for what they are saying.

They continue their pushes with an understanding that they are speaking truth in love, but without any scripture verses backing & getting angry or frustrated in this process."

Brother's response: "I really think we need to push for principles from God's word and not for specific verses."

So going forward, let us kindly, NOT push anybody WITHOUT some backing principles from God's word. Okay? :-)

How I honor and care for my mummy in her old age?

Shall we first see what bible says about honoring and caring for our parents throughout their lives? Honoring Parents: Exodus 20:12: "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you." Proverbs 23:22: "Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old." Caring for Parents: 1 Timothy 5:4: "But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God." 29 Apr 2019: Good morning, today's Bible passage is taken from Matthew 4:1-11. 😝Am I talking like a pastor? 😄😄 Today I decided to read a small but significant passage. It is about the temptation of Jesus. In the Bible it says that Jesus was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit and ate nothing for 40 days and 40 nights. Though this seems a bit ritualistic, Jesus, the son of God was fasting while praying, and so it is fine. Also, our God is not a ritualistic God; neither is his Son. When I read the phrase '40 days and 40 nights', I made reference to Noah and Moses: Noah was in the ark with his family and the animals while it rained for 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS; Moses saw God's glory on Mount Sinai and stayed there for 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS. I don't know whether there is any connection between Noah, Moses and Jesus Christ, but I hope I keep this in mind so that maybe in the future if I ever come across something like this it would be useful informa
