Jesus' Healing Ministry

Image
At current times, some people say that we have sickness among faithful children of God because of gaps in faith. So, shall we start with checking whether Jesus healed all sick people when he lived on this earth? Bible verses you can verify: Where the Gospels say he healed “all” in a given setting Matthew 8:16: that evening he “healed all the sick.” Matthew 12:15: after withdrawing, “healed all who were ill.” Luke 4:40: they brought “all who had various kinds of sickness,” and he laid hands on each and healed them. Matthew 14:14, 15:30-31, 19:2, 21:14, Luke 6:19, 7:21: scenes of wide, sometimes comprehensive healing in the crowd before him. Where the Gospels say “many” (not “all”), or show limits in a place Mark 1:34: “Jesus healed many who had various diseases.” Mark 6:5, Matthew 13:58: in Nazareth he did only a few healings “because of their lack of faith.” John 5:1-15: at the pool of Bethesda, “a great number” were sick, but Jesus healed one man and then “slipped away” (v. 13)....

Elementary Teachings About Christ

Image
Hebrews 6:1–2 (NIV) lists the “elementary teachings” about Christ as six basics: Repentance from acts that lead to death - Turning away from sinful deeds Faith in God - Trusting God through Christ for salvation and life Instruction about baptisms/washings - Basic teaching on purification and Christian baptism Laying on of hands - Practice used for blessing, commissioning, healing, and reception of the Spirit Resurrection of the dead - The future bodily resurrection hope Eternal judgment - The final judgement and eternal destinies Following are the other reference verses from NIV bible aligned to these elementary teachings: 1. Repentance from acts that lead to death Hebrews 9:14 -- Christ cleanses our consciences from “acts that lead to death.” Acts 3:19; 26:20 -- Repent and turn to God so sins are wiped out; deeds consistent with repentance. 2 Corinthians 7:10 -- Godly sorrow leads to repentance and salvation. Luke 13:3; 24:47 -- Call to repentance and forgiveness ...

Bible demeans women. Really?

Image
The charge that the Bible demeans women is a prominent and potent critique in contemporary discourse, powerfully articulated by leading secular thinkers. Figures like Dr. Richard Dawkins, in his book The God Delusion, point directly to Old Testament laws treating women as property and New Testament commands for their submission as clear evidence of the text's misogyny. Similarly, the late Dr. Christopher Hitchens frequently referred such passages to support his claim that religion is fundamentally "contemptuous of women," while neuroscientist Dr. Sam Harris argues that relying on these ancient texts for moral guidance is dangerous, with the subordinate status of women serving as a prime example of how religious dogma can perpetuate social harm and inequality.  Together, their critiques frame the Bible not merely as a historical document with outdated views, but as a source of ongoing moral and social problems, focusing the debate squarely on the content and impact of its ...

5 Impurities in Churches

Image
If we are covering up truth so as not to irritate folks, If we are sugar-coating truth so as to please folks,  If we are masking truth so as not to be shocking to folks,  If we are engineering or doctoring communication, so as to manage perceptions of folks,  If we are yielding to folks despite our troubled conscience towards whatever we are yielding,  We have neither fear of God nor love for God in our hearts!  😢  😢  😢  😢  😢  😢 As global Christians, when we look around our own families, neighborhoods and around the world, we realize that we are called to live out the new life that has been granted to us.  This includes ridding ourselves of what does not fit the new life of light and purity into which we have been swept up by the mercies of God.  Eph. 5: 8–9.   Sexual immorality, degrading speech, falsehood, bitterness, and anger have no place in our lives anymore. It is not who we are. Eph 4:17-32. Not only d...

Church attacks!

"Why do we need to go to a weekly cell group (life group)?"  we asked Rev. Paul Thangaiah yesterday when we got an opportunity to drive him from his hotel to a conference venue.  "We worship every Sunday together with all. This is important. This also involves lot of emotions and feelings.  Besides this, the most important aspect of us is our soul, which is our real person, our spiritual inner being.  We need to feed this with the word of God on very regular basis. This is very important and could happen only in the weekly cell groups (life groups)," he explained.  "So, please do go on weekly basis trusting in our Lord Jesus," he concluded with a smile.  Of course, the words with which he explained was different. This is just a recap of what we could remember and recollect. The divine strategy by which Jesus, the master of our universe, targets to bring our world to an awareness of him is to create in the midst of our world a family, a family life, a sh...

How to deal with false teachers or false teachings?

Many seem to be ignorant on how to deal with false teachers. Even some leaders who've received the discerning gift from Holy Spirit to identify false teachers or teachings have a weakness of falling into their natural instinct. These are ignorant or immature leaders in the word of Christ in some areas of their lives. Their fall into their natural instinct be evident in the following: Their gossiping against false teachers under the cover of love, prayers and mercies of our Lord for the false teachers and their families. Their negative propaganda against false teachers through their words or behaviors or both. Coming back to the question on what exactly should our responses be in dealing with false teachers or false teachings? As I've been praying and searching for this answer for several years, Holy Spirit directed me to pay attention to this answers, which he has already recorded through Jude. "17 But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord...

Do not eat blood vs. Drinking Jesus blood in communion :-)

"Friends I need your help regarding the following questions. 1) why bible resist and tells about do not eat blood. But at the same time when we come to communion we drank Jesus blood. Why? Any information or opinion plz share. I want to know." First, let us look at what exactly does bible say related to " why bible resist and tells about do not eat blood" There are two areas of life that were carefully regulated for Israel, the ancient people of God. Those are their behaviors toward blood and toward sex. These two are still mysteries. We don't understand these fully. These two remain deeply interesting to human hearts forever. Blood and Sex / Death and Life are mostly the two great underlying themes of movies, dramas, arts, songs, dances, literatures that are offered to the public as entertainment. We can't go over a trending post or a TV show or a magazine or go to a movie without finding at least one or probably both of these themes thrown at us in clever...

Mathew 27 & 28 - Meditation by Kevin Samuel Premkumar

These two chapters conclude the end of the book of Matthew. They talk about the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The reason why this part of the book is very important is because it tells us all the pains and sufferings that our Lord endured to save our souls from ultimate destruction. When the Roman soldiers placed that crown of thorns on Jesus's head, he placed the crown of forgiveness on theirs. However, it is not clearly mentioned whether the Roman soldiers repented, though in Matthew it is written that confessed that Jesus was the son of God indeed. Another thing is inspite of Jesus's resurrection, the Pharisees want the tomb guards to blaspheme against what happened so that they may earn the respect of the governor and may be able to stop the spreading of the so-called 'rumour' that Jesus is alive. Even though Jesus always wins against the Pharisees' will, they still keep trying to deny that he is the son of God. I felt sad for some of ...

Mathew 26 - Meditation by Kevin Samuel Premkumar

In this chapter, Judas betrays Jesus, the Last Supper takes place, Jesus is arrested and Peter denies Jesus. When Jesus had gone to Bethany to the house of Simon, a man who had had leprosy. During supper, a woman came in with a jar of expensive perfume and poured it over Jesus's head. The disciples thought that she had wasted her money and they suggested that she should have sold it for a large amount of money and should have contributed it to the poor. Jesus explains that she had shown her affection and love for him in such a way and that she poured out her perfume on him as he wasn't going to be on the earth for long, unlike the poor. Then Jesus and the disciples went into the city during the Feast of the Unleavened Bread and set up a meal at the house of a man for the last supper. There he introduced to them the practice of the Holy Communion, the body and the blood that will be poured out to save all humanity. We do this in remembrance of our Lord when he carried o...

Mathew 23 - 25 - Meditation of Kevin Samuel Premkumar

Jesus warns the religious leaders and the Pharisees for their hypocrisy and their attention-seeking nature. He tells them that they cannot escape God's judgement or wrath so they need to repent. Jesus also foretells the future, prophesying and predicting what the end times will be like. There was two lines in the passage that I found interesting: " 'I assure you, this generation will not pass from the scene before all these things take place. Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will remain forever.' " [Matthew 24:34-35, NLT] Jesus says these words for all the generations to hear, not just for the disciples. That's why it was recorded in the Scriptures. This verse is very much active and applicable even in our times. Our generation, neither Jesus's generation, nor will the generations before that escape God's wrath. Then Jesus told them a story about ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were wise,...

Mathew 22 - Meditation of Kevin Samuel Premkumar

The thing I found amusing in this chapter was the Pharisees questioning Jesus. The Pharisees made many questions hoping to catch Jesus into saying something which they could use against him to arrest him. But every time, they lost hope because Jesus is the son of God and no question is impossible for him. Jesus illustrated the kingdom of heaven with a parable called the Story of the Great Feast. The story goes as such: the kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a great wedding feast for his son. Many guests were invited, and when the banquet was ready, he sent his servants to notify everyone that it was time to come. However, they all refused. Then he sent other servants to them to tell them that the feast was ready so they should make haste and come as soon as possible. However, the guests ignored them and went about their business. Others seized the king's messengers and treated them shamefully, even killing a few of the servants. The furious king sent out his army to des...

Mathew 21 - Meditation of Kevin Samuel Premkumar

In this chapter, the significant topics are Jesus coming to Jerusalem on a donkey, Jesus making the fruitless fig tree wither and the parable of the tenants. When Jesus was hungry, he found a fig tree, but saw that it had no fruit. Then he cursed the tree, saying that it shall not bear fruit anymore. Immediately the tree withered. The disciples were amazed at this, so they asked Jesus how he did it. Jesus told them that all they needed was faith. You can do more than just make the tree wither. Jesus said that if you have enough faith and say to the mountain, "Go and throw yourself in the sea," it will be done. Then Jesus was questioned of his authority by the chief priests and the elders of the people. Jesus replied to them, "I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. John's baptism-where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or from men?"  Jesus had trapped the leaders now. For if they said...

Mathew 18 - 20 - Meditation of Kevin Samuel Premkumar

There are a lot of topics in this passage. The disciples came to Jesus and asked him who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. In response Jesus called out to a little child who was standing among them and said that people who humble themselves like this innocent child are the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.  I didn't seem to understand this at first, because according to my experience, little children are the most stubborn, most impudent and most selfish beings in all of the planet, and for this reason, sometimes I despised them. But now I realize that it's just my attitude towards them that matters. Although little children are naturally self-centered, they have nothing to be blamed or accused of: they are innocent. Now I wish I was a little kid, so that I can be seen as innocent in the eyes of Jesus. The Bible says that for someone who leads others into temptation and sin, it is better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied to their neck. When Je...

Matthew 17 - Meditation by Kevin Samuel Premkumar

The main topic of discussion in this chapter would be the Transfiguration. Jesus took Peter, James and John to the top of a high mountain. There his face began to shine and his clothes turned as white as light. Just then, Moses and Elijah appeared before them and began talking with Jesus. The disciples were frightened but they were also astonished. Later on-wards, Jesus drives a demon out of a boy. Then the disciples asked him why they weren't able to drive out that same demon. Jesus tells them that they didn't have enough faith to do it. Jesus incredibly illustrates that even if you have faith as a small as a mustard seed and tell a mountain to move from here to there, it will be done. Another awesome miracle that Jesus did is mentioned in Matthew 17:27. In order to pay their temple taxes Jesus tells Peter to go fishing to the lake. The first fish he catches will have a four-drachma coin in its mouth. These will pay for both Jesus's and Peter's taxes. I read this ver...

Matthew 16 - Meditation by Kevin Samuel Premkumar

In this chapter, several important incidents take place: the Pharisees and Saducees demand a miraculous sign from Jesus, Peter declares Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus predicts his death. When the Pharisees and the Saducees came to Jesus and demanded a miraculous sign from him, Jesus gave them the sign of the prophet Jonah. This meant Jesus was criticizing these leaders for their faith, as when Jonah went to Ninevah and prophesied, the people listened to him and turned away from their sins. Yet, someone greater than the prophet Jonah has come, and the people don't listen to him, or believe him. Then Jesus told his disciples to beware of the yeast of the Pharisees, to signify that their false teachings should be avoided. Later, Jesus asked his disciples on who the people think he is. The disciples told him that some say he is Elijah, others say John the Baptist and others say Jeremiah or some prophet. Then Jesus asked then whom they thought he was. Then Peter proclaimed Jesus as th...

Matthew 15 - Meditation by Kevin Samuel Premkumar

In this chapter, Jesus teaches about inner purity, heals a Gentile woman and feeds four thousand. The main topics that caught my interest were the teaching on inner purity and the faith of the Gentile woman. Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law had come to Jesus from Jerusalem to interview him. They had asked him why his disciples do not obey their age-old customs of washing hands before eating. The Pharisees thought that it was such disobedience that made them ceremonially unclean.  Jesus knew their thoughts and explained that it is not what you eat or how clean you eat it that defiles you, but defilement is caused by what comes from the mouth, what comes from the heart, for the human heart is evil and unjust. It is the sin in it that defiles you. Hence, you are not unclean if you don't wash your hands, rather you are unclean if what comes from your heart is not from God and is not right. Later on, a Gentile woman came to Jesus. She pleaded with Jim to come and cast...
