Joint-Family Battles & Healing!
"I want to discuss something with you," Daddy called.
"Sure," Son went to Daddy's room. Son knew from Daddy's voice & body language that it's about some serious matter.
Daddy explained his observations about his Mummy, Wife, & Mummy-Wife interactions in their joint-family.
Son became so unhappy.
"That's how life be, Daddy. God is still working in each of us and each of us still growing in God," Son defended.
Dad thought about what Son said.
"See, Son. Peace in a home is very important for kids to grow healthy. That's why I compromised on many things for your Mummy while raising you & your sister while you were growing-up" he said.
Daddy went on explaining his observations to his Son on the lack of peace in Mummy & Wife hearts in their joint family model within same apartment.
Son asked more questions to better understand Daddy's viewpoints.
"I can't change your Mummy. You cannot change your Wife. In fact, nobody can change anyone. God alone can change and he only knows who all need changes, what changes, & he will change in his time. But its also our responsibility to do everything feasible to maintain peace," Daddy explained.
"No, Daddy. You are not listening to what I am saying," Son raised his voice. "That's how life in dependent on God will be. Struggles. Peace. Struggles. Peace... this goes on & on in multiple iterations"
Daddy ignored and continued, "So, what I am proposing is let us end this joint-family living within same apartment, but take another apartment nearby & stay during weekdays & then stay-together on all weekends. We need to maintain whatever peace remaining in our relationships. Otherwise, it might get worse & break in some angry moments at some time in future," Daddy said.
Son saw Daddy like that of Lakshmi Madam from Visu Sir movies. Madam & Sir were one of the leading actors & directors respectively in Tamil family movies then. They'll talk radically different from the prevailing culture & their movies often climax with 'Peace' as superior virtue.
"Dad, Can you stop talking about this taking another apartment?" Son refused to accept what Daddy said.
Son walked out of the room. Drank some water and returned back into Daddy's room.
"If at all, we need to split, it'll be me, wife, & my kids, who'll go to another apartment and you and Mummy stay here," Son concluded. Son felt happy and satisfied with his conclusion.
"No, that won't be right. You can't explain this to your wife," Daddy refused Son's proposal. "Please don't worry about what neighbors or extended family members will say!" Daddy added.
Son became angry. "See! Again, you are not listening! Let us park it here and let us think about this more and pray more about this," he said.
Daddy nodded.
Subsequently, Son cried in prayers to God daily. Life went on as usual.
After 3 weeks, Son's boss proposed for him to go to USA for a higher role & responsibility.
Son saw it as an excellent opportunity for career growth, a welcome break & relief from the turmoil from his Daddy's words, as well as honor Daddy's words of ending joint-family within same apartment.
Son thanked God profusely for such change & went to USA with his family.
1 year later, God took out Daddy as Daddy completed serving God's purposes in 63 years of his life. Son was shocked & came to Chennai, buried Daddy, and handed-over Mummy to his Sister's family & her relatives and returned back to USA.
2 years later, Son returned back to Chennai and with his Wife's concurrence invited his Mummy to his home.
1 more year later, Son got freed from couple of addictions through teachings from NLAG community and The World Needs a Father (TWNAF) movement.
Thus, 4 years back, Son witnessed Daddy's words, "God alone can change people. He only knows who all need what changes & he will make those changes in his time," come true & realized in reality.
Now, Son has been living with his wife, kids, & mummy together at Chennai for the last 5 years in dependent on his amazing father God.
PS: Kindly continue praying for Son as although he feels blessed beyond measure with the overflowing love of God through his wife-mummy joint team, but he often gets pushed by the joint team, the most formidable team for any man to face! :-)
