2 great enemies of humans
Humans have 2 great enemies by whom the devil & demons tempt.
1. All of our relationships including the one-way or unreciprocated relationships.
For example, being a fan & in admiration of Me or any other person or persons would fall under one-way or unreciprocated relationships category.
2. Self-life within.
Many have made much progress in forsaking #1 while #2 retains full dominion. We can see this illustrated well in even Apostle Peter's life. He could truly say: “We have left everything to follow you!” Mark 10:28.
But how actively did #2, the ego, with its self-pleasing & self-confidence, still retained its control on him during a threat he faced to his physical well-being and another threat he faced to his social well-being.
Jesus in the initial phase led the disciples to forsaking all outward possessions & following him.
In the next phase of teaching, he began teaching that a disciple must deny self and lose #2 in order to be worthy of receiving his life, his everlasting life.
Dear God, Request you to kindly help us remember, recognize, recall, & rely upon the power of your spirit to overcome #2 on 24x7 basis.
When there is no truth in our hearts, then we are in danger from the attacks of our enemies; we might lose our inheritances, in Christ. Our enemies are: the world, lusts of our flesh and Satan. Amos 3:10,11, Mat.4:1, 1John 2:15-17.
ReplyDeleteGod desires truth in our hearts so that we will have wisdom to do His will. Ps.51:6
Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth discloses to us the glory of Jesus Christ; and He leads us into all the truth so that we will be able to glorify Christ by bearing fruits. John 16:13-15.
