One Communication Best Practice for All...
One Communication Best Practice for all that came to mind now while preparing for my guest lecture tomorrow at one of Chennai's top 2 & India's top 10 institutes of management:
(1) Whenever we receive a request or an instruction, DECIDE to send ACKNOWLEDGEMENT on having received the request or instruction. And, SEND acknowledgement.
(2) As soon as we send acknowledgement, DECIDE to send progress updates on the activity. And, SEND progress updates frequently.
(3) In fact, in (1) itself, include our planned frequency of (2), as feasible.
This what I practiced throughout my career and received several appreciations & accolades on my communication skills.
Of course, there were also deviations in some instances, where I got rebukes from stakeholders.
I accepted my mistake, turned it into a lesson learnt, & thus hoped for continual improvement.
This is how I coped with failures, avoided getting into high-performance addiction, & avoided being hard on myself during failures.
In fact, my chosen topic for the guest lecture is "Preparing to Continue as a Leader amidst Weaknesses and or Failures".
What do you think? Looking forward to your thoughts & comments.
