How I honor and care for my mummy in her old age?

Shall we first see what bible says about honoring and caring for our parents throughout their lives?

Honoring Parents:

Exodus 20:12: "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you."

Proverbs 23:22: "Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old."

Caring for Parents:

1 Timothy 5:4: "But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God."

Mark 7:10-13: "For Moses said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and, ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘Corban’ (that is, devoted to God)— then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”

Respecting Elders:

Leviticus 19:32: "Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the Lord."

Proverbs 16:31: "Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness."

Showing Compassion and Kindness:

Colossians 3:12: "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."

Ephesians 4:32: "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

Remembering God's Design for Family:

Psalm 127:3: "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him."

Proverbs 22:6: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."

These verses remind us that showing love, respect, and care for our elderly parents is not just a societal expectation, but a biblical mandate.

As they age and require more support, it's our responsibility and privilege to honor them and ensure their well-being.

Considering all these, if you are interested to know how I honor and care for my mummy and parents in law in their old age, please plan to ask about this when you meet me! :-)
