Do not eat blood vs. Drinking Jesus blood in communion :-)

"Friends I need your help regarding the following questions.

1) why bible resist and tells about do not eat blood. But at the same time when we come to communion we drank Jesus blood. Why? Any information or opinion plz share. I want to know."

First, let us look at what exactly does bible say related to "why bible resist and tells about do not eat blood"

There are two areas of life that were carefully regulated for Israel, the ancient people of God. Those are their behaviors toward blood and toward sex. These two are still mysteries. We don't understand these fully. These two remain deeply interesting to human hearts forever. Blood and Sex / Death and Life are mostly the two great underlying themes of movies, dramas, arts, songs, dances, literatures that are offered to the public as entertainment. We can't go over a trending post or a TV show or a magazine or go to a movie without finding at least one or probably both of these themes thrown at us in clever ways because they hold such continual grip and fascination for most human beings everywhere.

Leviticus chapter 17 explains the mystery of the blood and its associated expected behaviors for the chosen group of people of God during those ancient times. Kindly do read the chapter and at least one chapter prior and at least one chapter post chapter 17.

The first requirement was all blood must be offered to the LORD. If anyone killed an animal it had to be brought and offered as a peace offering to God, and the blood was to be poured out and collected in a basin. The priest had to perform certain rituals with it and then the meat of the animal could be eaten by the person's family. Basically, the blood of any animal we killed, if we were part of Israelites, had to be treated with respect and poured out and covered over with dirt.

What is God trying to impart with this kind of requirement? What is the lesson that he had for these people which still applies to us? We don't have to follow these regulations anymore, but we do have to obey the great principles that are involved.

Human beings discovered long time back that we are not alone in this world and there are other spiritual beings. The other truth we discovered is life - all forms of life - are sacred. So, our ancient great grand fathers and mothers believed that to pacify the spirits it is not enough to just offer food or cloth or money or gifts or something like that - the spirits are not satisfied with these. It takes blood as life is in the blood. But their error is to feel that somehow by these blood offerings we could manipulate the spirits, get them to work on our behalf, and thus we could still remain in control of our lives.

We will notice that for an Israelite to violate this requirement - that's handling blood casually - was a very serious offense. The person was to be cut off from among the people if he did not follow it carefully. So this must be a very important principle.

This is the equivalent of the form of disowning a person from community of God which is commanded in the New Testament when someone displays deliberate intent to continue in evil even when he or she knows it is wrong. We could recall how to deal with this situation in Matthew 18.

Jesus tells us that if our brother is at fault, we are to go to him and tell him what is wrong between us and him alone. If he will listen to us then it is all over and we can forget it. "You have gained your brother," Jesus said. "But if he won't hear you," if he willfully continues to offend, then we are to "take two or three with you and go to him again. If he won't hear them," and still remains unwilling to change his behavior in accordance with the Word of God, then "tell it to the church." And if he will not hear the church, then let him be to you as though he were not a Christian at all (Matthew 18:16-17). That is what it means to be cut off from among the people -- to be set aside and to have one's whole relationship to God in doubt. Even the questions around his or her salvation is in jeopardy. This is the seriousness of failure to treat blood properly and to recognize that it belongs to God for the ancient Israelites.

The reasons are explained in the same chapter Leviticus 17:5-7. The purpose of this requirement is to teach that all life belongs to God and that he alone is capable of handling it rightly. Only God understands life. That is the basis for all proper behavior. If we don't understand this fact, we are not going to behave properly. We can't. We must understand that our life belongs to God, and that all other life around us, even animal life, must be brought before God and related to him, with the understanding that life is a mystery which we cannot handle ourselves. We are incapable of properly directing our own life and affairs without offering to God. This is the truth which God wants to drive home into our hearts.

"But at the same time when we come to communion we drank Jesus blood. Why?" is indeed a good associated question.

Here is a very nice answer from a brother or sister who goes by the name ~followpeaceandholiness

When we take communion we do not drink blood. Some churches have taught this false teaching that the priest can turn the bread and wine into the actual body and blood of Jesus and then offer it up as a fresh sacrifice. Jesus did not say the bread and wine had turned into his flesh and blood. He was sitting at the table eating a meal with them.

When he said I am the door, he did not mean the wooden door had turned into him. When he said I am the vine, he did not mean the vine had turned into him. When he said this is my body which is broken for you he meant the bread was to represent his body when we break bread in remembrance of his death and resurrection for us.

The same for the grape juice (the word wine is not used in the description of what was drank) or cup which he took saying this is my blood.

Mat 26:26-29 KJV 26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. When we break bread in fellowship we are simply remembering by eating together and giving thanks for Jesus's sacrifice for us.

1Cor 11:23-34 KJV 23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do you, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you do show the Lord's death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eat and drink unworthily, eat and drink damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. 34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

Communion must be taken seriously. Don't fool around with God. We are to examine ourselves, confess  to God and forsake our sin before we partake. This is a special time ordained by Jesus to stop, think, get right with God and give thanks together with brothers and sisters who strive to follow Christ.
